Fierce Competition and Impressive Performances at French Elite Archery Championships

A double for Coupard and the assist of two for Valladont!

In the mixed event, Brienon with Louise Botte and Anthony Barbierwas again in the running in the small final to face the Nîmes Victoria Sébastian and Jean-Charles Valladont. At the end of an up-and-down match, the two teams had to compete in a shootout won by Brienon 19 to 18.

In the final, the Rennais Nicolas Bernardi and Anaël Coupard were opposed to the very young archers of Mornas, Mila Fremery-Delestan et Alexis Renaudineau, only 16 years old. Each set was contested with numerous 10s on both sides but the match would turn in favor of Rennes with the final score of 5-1. Was Anael Coupard, also competing in the individual final, going to achieve the double?

Just enough time to compete in the small final between two very young archers from the Pôle de Bordeaux, both aged 17, Amélie Cordeau (Annemasse) the title holder and Maia Tincu (Nîmes); It was Amélie Cordeau who would emerge victorious from this very emotional duel, at the end of the 5th set with a score of 6-4. Finally Anna Jakusic (Marseille) 18 years old, resident of the Pôle France Relève de Nancy, found Anael Coupard, 24 years old (Rennes). We were going to witness a solo rider from Rennaise who, by aligning 27-29 and 30 to finish, against 24-27 and 28 for Jakusic, won his second title of the day after the one won in mixed, at the same time that of queen of these French Elite championships!

There remained the two fine men’s finals to follow with first Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand) opposed in the match for 3rd place to Florent Mulot (Draveil-Sénart). After racing ahead to lead 5-1, Florent Mulot gave up the fourth set by one point 27-28, allowing Thomas Chirault to return to the match. In the 5th set, Mulot gave in by releasing an arrow far from the center of the target to total only 21 points against 28 for Thomas Chirault who then won the barrage 10-8.

The men’s recurve final between Jean-Charles Valladont and Romain Fichet was going to close this day of finals of the French Elite Championship in a beautiful way. Valladont started with three 10s to win the 1st set, the two men shared the 2nd set and Fichet came back to level at the end of the 3rd set. By finishing with 30 – 29 against 28 – 29 for Romain Fichet, Jean-Charles Valladont would prove to be the strongest. He thus retains his title won here in Riom last year, validating the major technical work started more than a year ago at INSEP with the Korean head coach Mr OH and Romain Girouille, the men’s national coach. Before flying to Berlin, the archers (Valladont, Addis, Bernardi for the men and Adiceom, Barbelin, Lopez for the women) will end the week at INSEP with an internship started last week with the Chinese national team .

Monday begins the French youth championships until Wednesday on the grounds of the regional archery center of Riom, from Friday it will be the turn until Sunday of the participants in the French adult championships by age categories .
