Leverkusen managing director Fernando Carro talks about football under Bayer coach Xabi Alonso, the possible big bang in the dispute over a league investor and the courage in other countries.
Mr Carro, Bayer Leverkusen has had an almost perfect season so far, both in terms of results and style of play. Do coach Xabi Alonso and the players just have to work on preserving this situation?
No, I wouldn’t say that we just have to maintain a level of quality. For example, we need to get better at exploiting opportunities or asserting ourselves in the final third. In a dominant game like the 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund, we should score more goals. With 35 out of 39 possible points in the Bundesliga, our standard is exceptionally high, but we have to reward ourselves even more consistently.
