Hamburger SV may have to make do without one of its offensive players in the second half of the season. FC Augsburg is interested in Bakery Jatta.
Hamburg/Augsburg – HSV finally wants to return to the Bundesliga. After several failed attempts, the return to the upper house should finally work in the 2023/24 season. After 16 match days, head coach Tim Walter’s team is on track and is third in the table with 31 points. That would ultimately mean participation in the relegation.

But the second half of the season is long and a lot can still happen. Hamburger SV may have to do without one of its offensive players. Like that Hamburger Abendblatt Reportedly, FC Augsburg is courting Bakery Jatta and would like to sign him as the club urgently needs action on the flanks.
Jatta’s contract with Hamburger SV expires at the end of the season and the Hanseatic League is unable to keep up with FC Augsburg when it comes to player salaries. An extension with the offensive player therefore seems unrealistic. There will probably be a free transfer in the summer.

Hamburger SV could also be willing to let Jatta go in the winter and collect at least a small fee before he leaves the club for free six months later. A second first division club that is also interested prefers a free transfer next summer, like this Hamburger Abendblatt reported.
HSV with painful discharge?
Jatta has been playing for Hamburger SV since 2016 and has developed into a top performer over time. In the current season, the 25-year-old has made 16 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, in which he scored three goals and prepared three more. He also scored three times in three DFB Cup games.
With Bakery Jatta, HSV would lose an important player who would not be so easy to replace. Whether he leaves in the winter or in the summer probably depends on whether those responsible at the Hanseatic League find a successor in January. (smr)
