Facts: PSIS Semarang received sanctions without spectators from the PSSI Komdis

Liputan6.com, Semarang – The PSSI Disciplinary Committee has officially imposed sanctions without spectators being present at every home match for PSIS Semarang. This sanction is the aftermath of supporters’ riots when they hosted PSS Sleman in the 21st week of Liga 1 2023/2024 at Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, Sunday (3/12/2023).

The rioting started with a throwing action from the stands which caused officials and players from both sides to dodge and go straight onto the field. Then a number of supporters also took to the field.

In that match, there was actually a ban on visiting teams not coming to the stadium. However, from a number of sources and evidence, there were a handful of PSS Sleman supporters who came and watched directly at the stadium.

This is also suspected to have triggered the riot which started with mutual mockery, until the fans entered the field. According to a number of reports, the clashes even continued until the evening.

The following are the facts about the sanctions imposed on PSIS Semarang:

1. Prohibition of home matches without spectators

In the aftermath of the supporters’ riot at Jatidiri Stadium, PSIS Semarang was punished without spectators attending every home match until the end of the 2023/2024 season.

The team nicknamed Mahesa Jenar was deemed to have violated the 2023 PSSI Disciplinary Code by repeating the same incident, namely the commotion between PSIS Semarang supporters and visiting club supporters.

“Referring to Article 70 Paragraph 1, Paragraph 4 and Attachment 1 Number 5 of the 2023 PSSI Disciplinary Code, the PSIS Semarang Club has been sanctioned with a ban on holding matches with spectators when hosting, since this decision was issued and applies to matches closest to the BRI League Competition 1 of 2023-2024 ends,” reads the sentence in the Disciplinary Committee letter sent on Wednesday (6/12/2023).
