European Tour Svensson takes the reins, three French people in the top 10

This Friday took place the second round of the Investec South African Open Championship, in Johannesburg. Jesper Svensson climbed to the top of the leaderboard. On the French side, David Ravetto, Frédéric Lacroix and Romain Langasque appear in the top 10.

The leadership chair remains Swedish in South Africa. In the lead, at the end of the first round, Joakim Lagergren was replaced by his compatriot Jesper Svensson at the top of the ranking this Friday (-9 total). Starting off with a bang with a fantastic series of four birdies in five holes to start his day, the 27-year-old finally returned a fine card of 67 (seven birdies in total for two bogeys).

“It’s a great feeling to be in charge. We’re halfway through and I’m happy to be in a good position. The weekend is going to be great, being in the last group on Saturday is going to be a lot of fun. I had a putter on fire from the start and I made some good putts,” reacted the winner of the B-NL Challenge Trophy (on the Challenge Tour) last May.

Jesper Svensson, however, only has a small lead (-8 total) over a trio made up of Joakim Lagergren, Casay Jarvis and Matteo Manassero. Frédéric Lacroix follows in 5th position. The Frenchman scored a nice score of 68 (four birdies, two bogeys, an eagle on hole number 5) during this second round. Alongside him are Ryan Van Velzen and his compatriot David Ravetto, author of a solid record of 69 (five birdies, two bogeys).
