Lucky draw for Germany – these are the national team’s group opponents

The German national team was drawn into a feasible group. National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in the preliminary round of the European Championships in their own country.

EM tickets are a scarce commodity. This will become clear at the start of the next sales phase on Monday. What makes things worse is that the German opponents travel with tens of thousands of fans in the summer. Only one group of fans will receive preferential treatment.

A total of one million tickets will be released on Monday in the next sales phase for the 2024 European Football Championship. However, the demand for the German group games will far exceed the supply of a total of 60,000 tickets for these three games. With Scotland as opponents in the opening game on June 14th in Munich, Hungary five days later in Stuttgart and Switzerland on June 23rd in Frankfurt, the DFB team has caught three opponents who will come to Germany with numerous fans in the summer of 2024 and their also make full use of national quotas.

The ticket situation has by no means eased with the lottery ceremony in Hamburg. Especially since the regulations aren’t getting any easier. While in the first phase in October an online application was sufficient and all you needed was the luck of the draw, special precautions have now been taken to ensure that you are among the lucky fans who are taken into account in the quota of 10,000 tickets per game and team. The distribution of tickets for German fans is now the responsibility of the DFB.

The largest contingent of tickets for the German group games goes to members of the paid “National Team Fan Club”, which, according to the association, has around 55,000 members. The entry into the sales phase for fans is determined based on bonus points in the fan club. In the past, these were awarded for attending home and away games.

German fans still have a back door for the European Championship

There was also the option of registering an independently organized fan club with the DFB. These groups also receive a fixed contingent of tickets. Another option is to register for your own tournament – but the deadline for this expired last Thursday evening. “There is a limited contingent of tickets available, which are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis,” said the DFB regarding the tournament registration option.

German fans can of course also apply for tickets from the respective associations for games of other nations, provided their regulations allow this. Anyone who comes away empty-handed in this round or doesn’t even belong to a fan club can hope for an exchange and return cards from the first phase until shortly before the start of the tournament.

“Simply indescribable” – Germany’s world champion in ecstasy

The German U17 made history with the World Cup fairytale in Indonesia. After the triumph against France, the mood among the newly crowned world champions around final scorer Paris Brunner is exuberant.

6,000 tickets are available from the associations for the round of 16 and quarter-finals, 7,000 tickets for the semi-finals and 10,000 tickets for the final. In the first application phase in October, over 20 million applications were received through UEFA’s open sales – around 1.2 million tickets were distributed without the pairings being known. At least the German fans, but also those from Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland, now have these certainties.
