Emilien Demanet Reaches Final of ITF Tennis Tournament in Zahra, Kuwait

Emilien Demanet joined the final of the ITF tennis tournament in Zahra, Kuwait on Saturday, a $15,000 surface event.

For his third professional tournament (the third in a row in three weeks at the same place, in Al Zahra), the young 18-year-old from Namur eliminated in his path two players who had seeded status, the Dutchman Sidane Pontjodikromo (N. 3/ATP 537, 23 years old), in the semi-final, and the Luxembourger Alex Knaff (N.2/ATP 503, 26 years old) in the quarter-final.

Emilien Demanet (ATP 1656), 65th in the world among juniors, was to play in the final against the British Alastair Gray (N.5/ATP 559), 25 years old, but the match will not take place, the tournament having been stopped due to of the death on Saturday of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, reports the AFT, the French-speaking tennis association.

Emilien Demanet returned to the circuit last month after a long period of absence due to injury (stress fracture) since Roland-Garros juniors in June.
