Eljif Elmas Set to Transfer from SSC Napoli to RB Leipzig

The transfer of Eljif Elmas from Italian champions SSC Napoli to RB Leipzig is apparently dry. In any case, Napoli’s President Aurelio de Laurentiis commented accordingly to Corriere dello Sport.

De Laurentiis announced: “Elmas has already been sold.” The powerful club boss also said with regard to Elmas’ role as a supplementary player in the last few weeks: “He is someone who always wants to play and he didn’t understand that you are also part of the regular staff if you don’t play 90 minutes.”

Elmas is supposed to replace Emil Forsberg, who is moving to New York, in Leipzig’s midfield. Several media outlets recently reported a transfer fee of 25 million euros. According to Corriere dello Sport, twenty million euros will flow directly to Napoli, and another five million could follow in the form of bonuses.

The 24-year-old has lost his regular place with the Italian champions. Elmas has played 16 competitive games with the SSC so far this season and has only been in the starting line-up four times.

Elmas played 52 international matches for North Macedonia and scored twelve goals.

In 2017, Elmas moved from Rabotnicki Skopje to Fenerbahce for a fee of 180,000 euros. There he was considered an exceptional talent and in 2019 Napoli brought him to Serie A for around 16 million euros.
