In the Rhenish duel of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), Düsseldorfer EG celebrated a furious victory against rival Kölner Haie. The Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven confidently won their home game against Schwenningen.

After a goalless first third, Düsseldorf turned up the heat on Sunday (December 3rd, 2023) and ultimately overwhelmed the Kölner Haie 7:1 (0:0, 3:0, 4:1). The Düsseldorf goal machine started in the 30th minute when Kevin Clark took the lead for DEG. Just seconds later, Kenny Agostino increased the score to 2-0. Nicolas Gleitner (38th) basically made the preliminary decision before the second siren.

The Haie, who had previously won five of their most recent seven games, scored through Louis-Marc Aubry (45th) and put pressure on in the final phase. But Düsseldorf remained ice-cold and, thanks to a hat-trick from Alexander Ehl (53′), Phil Varone (53′) and Kohen Olischefski (54′) in a very wild phase, increased the score to 7-1 within a few seconds.

After two recent defeats, DEG gained a little more breathing room in the table cellar. 25 points mean 12th place after the 24th matchday and at least six points ahead of the relegation zone. Cologne is seventh with 38 points.

Bremerhaven wins clearly

The Fischtown Pinguins are back at the top. Bremerhaven celebrated a 4:1 (1:0, 2:1, 1:0) win against the last strong Schwenninger Wild Wings. Jan Urbas (9th) gave the hosts an early lead. With a double strike, the Penguins moved ahead 3-0 in the second half and kept the guests at bay until the end.

After two recent defeats in the top games against Straubing and Munich, the North Germans are back on track and in third place with 46 points.
