Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Chief Park Il-ha) announced on the 7th that it will operate dog-friendly rooms at Dongjak Recreation Center (Dongjak Hyuse Stay) starting next year.
As the number of households raising pets increases, the district decided to provide residents with an environment where they can enjoy traveling and resting with their dogs.
The district has designated two rooms on the first floor of the main building and two campsites at Dongjak Recreation Center (343 Jungsin-ro, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do) as dog-friendly rooms, and will operate them starting in January of next year. However, the camping site will not be open until February next year, which is the winter season, and will be available from March.
Currently, reservations for January 2024 can be made by phone, and reservations for February 2024 can be made by entering pet registration information through the Dongjak-gu Facilities Management Corporation website from January, the reservation period.
Dongjak Recreation Center can be used not only by Dongjak-gu residents but also by residents of other regions. For more information, please check the Dongjak-gu Facilities Management Corporation website or inquire by phone.
The district has established rules for use with dogs, including safety measures in public spaces, and plans to strive to manage and supervise the facility to ensure safe operation, taking into account the perspectives of users without dogs.
Park Il-ha, mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “We have opened rooms for dogs so that many residents can enjoy a comfortable trip in the vast nature of Dongjak Recreation Center. We will continue to strive to improve awareness of pets and create a mature pet culture.”
Meanwhile, Dongjak Resort has many tourist attractions nearby, such as Kkotji Beach, and is popular for its relatively low lodging fees and various convenience facilities such as family karaoke, badminton, foot volleyball, and basketball courts.
