The German national team’s next European Championship test matches are scheduled for March. According to Dietmar Hamann, the games against two high-class opponents are already finals for national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The dates have not yet been confirmed, but it is planned that the German national soccer team will play against two well-known opponents between March 18th and 26th, 2024 and thus test for the European Championships. According to reports, it will be against France in Lyon and then at home against the Netherlands. The venue for the latter game is still open.

TV expert Dietmar Hamann, who played 59 international matches for the German Football Association (DFB) between 1997 and 2005, sees the international test matches as finals for national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“If they go wrong, then Julian Nagelsmann will not be a coach at the European Championships. That’s not possible, we can’t afford that,” said Hamann on Sky.

“Nothing works,” says Hamann

As Hansi Flick’s successor, Nagelsmann has so far been responsible for the international matches against the USA (3:1), Mexico (2:2), Turkey (2:3) and against Austria (0:2). Hamann criticized the 36-year-old’s measures. “No matter what he does, nothing works. “He knows as much now, if not less, than he did before the four games,” said the former midfielder, who was once under contract with FC Bayern, Liverpool FC and Manchester City.

Hamann particularly dislikes Nagelsmann’s selection of personnel because, in his opinion, there are too few defensive players on the pitch. “How are you going to bring any stability or control into your game? You don’t need to be a nuclear physicist,” he argued. “You can’t build a team around your offense.”
