DHB women play against Poland for group victory

The German handball players want to move into the main round of the Handball World Cup with the maximum number of points.

In the duel with Poland, the final preliminary round game on Monday (December 4th, 2023, 8:30 p.m.) is about winning the group. Although both teams have already qualified for the second phase of the tournament, the game in Herning, Denmark is important. Because all teams take their points from the preliminary round with them into the main round.

Decisive match against Poland

There the DHB selection will probably have to deal with title candidates Denmark as well as Serbia and Romania. At the start of the tournament, national coach Markus Gaugisch’s team won against Japan and Iran.

“This is the first extremely decisive match. We want to take all the points into the main round, so we have to beat the Poles,” said Gaugisch.

The goal is Olympic qualification

The Polish handball players are going into the game against Germany with a lot of self-confidence. They defeated Japan 32:30 (15:15) and, like the DHB selection, have the optimal score of 4:0 points.

The goal of the DHB women is to reach the quarter-finals and the associated ticket for an Olympic qualification tournament in the spring of next year.
