Controversy Surrounding Junior’s Tenth Star Victory and Clash with ‘Tino’ Asprilla

The pain in the interior of the country is still latent due to the title that Junior won against Deportivo Independiente Medellín.

The tenth star has caused annoyance and many have resorted to “lower the cane” to obtain the title because Junior ranked sixth in home runs.

However, when the above has happened with other teams, opinions are different.

An example of the annoyance generated is that of the historic Colombian player Faustino ‘Tino’ Asprilla’who had a strong clash with the Junior coach, Arturo Reyeson an ESPN program.

Coach Samario gave the former player of the Colombian National Team and Atlético Nacional a break.

This was the verbal confrontation:

Reyes: “What were you saying about Junior, ‘Tino’? Many in Colombia said things. And, ‘Tino’, that’s how America, Millonarios, Nacional were champions, and you said that they were fair winners.”.

‘Tino’ Asprilla: “No, no, I have been saying that this tournament is very poorly designed and lends itself to that, because a team that is doing poorly… Who did you guys beat to qualify? “Three teams eliminated”.

Reyes: “And who do we beat in the home runs, Fausto? Who were the first two teams? The two teams that scored the most points; Águilas and Medellín and we beat them”.

‘Tino’ Asprilla: “If it were like the Brazilian championship, the best teams would fight for the tournament, because they don’t reward mediocrity there”.

Reyes: “File the complaint with the CAI. Fausto. You are detracting from the work of the Junior players. And no, don’t hide behind congratulations.”.

After this friction, the situation calmed down and the Samario coach recognized ‘Tino’ as a “crack”.
