The case dates back to January 18, 2022. In the center of Nalinnes, judoka Joachim Bottieau, international champion, was arrested by police officers from the local Germinalt area. This real colossus was making a scene in the street, uttering rather incomprehensible remarks and even being threatening. The police intervention did not go smoothly, Joachim Bottieau had no intention of letting it happen and had knocked down two police officers, leading to serious incapacity for work for both men.
Finally arrested, the athlete was logically prosecuted for rebellion and assault against the police. But he too, for his part, had decided to sue the police for nothing less than attempted murder. This Monday, the Charleroi council chamber ruled on the two cases: there will be no trial.
