Concordia Honors Exceptional Athletes at the Special Athlete of the Year Award 2022-2023 Ceremony

In an emotional ceremony held at the Concordia Convention Center, the thirteenth edition of the “Special Athlete of the Year Award 2022-2023” was celebrated. The event, chaired by Mayor Dr. Francisco Azcué, Vice Mayor Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, Deputy Director of Sports Ivana Pérez, provincial legislators, councilors and other authorities, highlighted the dedication and exceptional achievements of athletes with special abilities.

The award, named after Daniel B. Ortiz in recognition of his outstanding sports career and social contributions, has become an annual milestone to honor those who, despite adversity, stand out in various sports disciplines.

During the event, the vice mayor of Concordia, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, expressed the importance of recognizing the effort, sacrifice, work and merit that special athletes contribute to society. She highlighted the need to provide them with the necessary support so that they continue to grow and improve.

Honors were awarded in a variety of disciplines, from swimming and hockey to soccer and adapted bocce, recognizing not only competitive achievements but also the therapeutic, amateur or recreational value of the sport.

In addition to discipline awards, special mentions were given to individuals and families who have contributed significantly to the ADISMOC team and wheelchair basketball, highlighting their social work.

The ceremony also included awards in sports such as powerlifting, newcon, athletics, golf croquet, shooting, chess, skating, special horse riding, badminton, rugby, cycling, and many more.

Two special mentions were dedicated to Guillermo Pérez, a former combatant from Malvinas who has dedicated his life to the manufacture and repair of orthopedic elements, and to Facundo Bonfiglio, a young man with a motor disability who has proven his worth in the workshop of the Orthopedic Bank of the Directorate. of Disability.
