Coach Uston Nawawi Leaves Persebaya Surabaya to Continue AFC Pro License Course

KOMPAS.com – Coach Uston Nawawi left Persebaya Surabaya even though the team was disappointed after being held to a draw by Persija in the 22nd week of Liga 1 2023-2024 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, Saturday (9/12/2023) evening.

Right after the match ended, Uston said goodbye to go to Jakarta to continue the AFC Pro license course he was currently undertaking.

This decision is a form of Sang’s endeavor caretaker to revive a team that was stumbling due to inconsistency problems.

“I immediately returned to Jakarta because I didn’t have two days left of my license,” he said.

Uston Nawawi is known to be undergoing the sixth AFC Pro Diploma Module licensing coaching course which was postponed since May 2023.

The reason is because one of the course participants, Bima Sakti, is focusing on preparing the Indonesian national team for the 2023 U17 World Cup.

This course will be held on 4-12 December 2023 at the ASIOP Training Ground Sentul, Bogor Regency, with a focus on practical exams, match analysis exams, thesis exams and theory exams.

Apart from him, there are several other big names such as ex caretaker PSIS Imran Nahumarury, Jafri Sastra, former U16 national team coach Fachri Husaini, and former Arema FC coach I Putu Gede.

The sixth module itself is planned to be completed on Tuesday (12/12/2023) the day after tomorrow.

Uston Nawawi promised to return soon to accompany Persebaya in the postponed week 18 match against Persis Solo at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Wednesday (13/12/2023) evening.

“My exact opponent, God willing, will be possible,” said the coach who is also a Persebaya legend.

After completing the sixth module, he only needs to complete the seventh module. In this module, participants will be assessed directly by dealing with football clubs. The assessment will be carried out on January 3-14 2024.

After being declared successful, participants will receive an AFC Pro coaching license.

With this license, Uston Nawawi can move up to become the full head coach of Persebaya.

Meanwhile, even though he is busy with coaching courses, he still makes Persebaya a priority.

He continues to lead Persebaya’s preparations against Persis from a distance.

“Of course we don’t have much time because we play on the 13th and play again on the 17th. Yes, we will try to fix it and recovery just players,” said Uston Nawawi.

This was done during the preparation period for Persija Jakarta. He led Bruno Moreira et al’s training from Jakarta with the help of physical trainer Muhammad Alimuddin.
