Club Brugge Secures First Place in Group D with Victory Against Bodo/Glimt (3-1)

Club Brugge scored a great victory against Bodo/Glimt (3-1) in its last match of the group stage of the Football Conference League, the 3rd European level, on Thursday evening. A result which places the Brugesois in first place in group D and which directly qualifies them for the round of 16 while the Norwegians will go through a play-off against a third in the Europa League.

After spending more than twenty minutes testing the waters with several big chances, Club Brugge opened the scoring with a gem from Antonio Nusa. Well served by Andreas Skov Olsen, the Norwegian sent a heavy strike into the ceiling of the Bodo/Glimt goal (26th, 1-0).

The people of Bruges thought of making the break for a short moment thanks to a header from Thiago but the latter was offside when Maxim De Cuyper’s cross (40th).

La Gantoise lost Thursday evening against Maccabi Tel-Aviv (3-1) during the sixth and final day of the group stage of the Football Conference League in Backa Topola, Serbia and behind closed doors. Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men let go of first place and will have to go through a roadblock.

La Gantoise suffered the game in the first half and very quickly conceded a goal. Gavriel Kanichowsky followed a shot from Dor Peretz on the post and beat Davy Roef (9th). Maccabi quickly doubled the lead, Eran Zahavi, who had just missed an opportunity (21st), making the perfect move with a shot outside the rectangle (26th). Maccabi takes first place in Group B (15 points) and is directly qualified for the round of 16. La Gantoise (13 points) will have to beat a team dropped from the Europa League to reach this stage. At the same time, Zorya Luhansk finished the first round on a good note by largely beating (4-0) the Icelanders of Breidablik (0 points) and finished third with 7 points.
