The Los Angeles Clippers play a record game against the Indiana Pacers, the Pacers go down in the points rush of the title candidate around superstar James Harden. The German center Daniel Theis can look forward to a successful return to his former team. And then there is Isaiah Hartenstein’s record.

Basketball world champion Daniel Theis also won with the Los Angeles Clippers against his former team Indiana Pacers and extended the longest winning streak in the NBA. The 151:127 was the eighth success in the last eight games for the Clippers. Against his former colleagues, the 31-year-old had four points and nine rebounds as well as two blocks in 22 minutes. James Harden scored 21 of his 35 points for the Clippers in the final quarter – and with eight goals on eleven attempts, he became the tenth player in club history to sink eight or more three-pointers in a game.

Theis was only traded from the Pacers to the Clippers in mid-November and only lost three games during that time. In Indianapolis, Theis was “not happy” about his role as a supplementary player, as he said. In the first phase of the season, Theis, who had returned to the NBA as the world champion’s regular center, only made one appearance.

By halftime, the Clippers had put 77 points on the scoreboard against the second-worst defense in the league – more than ever before this season. Only three times in their history have the Clippers scored more than 151 points in a game. The Pacers were still ahead 51:46 midway through the second quarter. For the Pacers, the bankruptcy means an unpleasant return home: The team had previously had to play six away games in a row, and the twelve-day trip took the Pacers through three different time zones.

Pacers are in for trouble

The brutal attrition angered Rick Carlisle: “Our attitude, if we just try to score more points than other teams and no longer concentrate on defense, has to change,” said the Pacers coach and threatened his players: “If That means we have to make massive changes to our lineup and then that will happen.”

Meanwhile, Theis’ friend Dennis Schröder and the Toronto Raptors recorded a 114:99 win against the Charlotte Hornets, who gave up an eleven-point lead without Miles Bridges and three other regular players. The Raptors won the final quarter 35:18. Bridges was not allowed to enter Canada because of his criminal record. He is currently on probation for domestic violence.

Isaiah Hartenstein has underlined his application for a place in the German national basketball team with a new career best. In his New York Knicks’ 114:109 away game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the 25-year-old grabbed 17 rebounds – he had never grabbed so many in the NBA. In 39 minutes of playing time, Hartenstein, who had previously managed 16 rebounds twice in the best basketball league in the world, scored nine points.

For the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Dončić’s next outstanding performance was once again not enough to win. The Mavericks lost 104:130 to defending champion Denver Nuggets, although the Slovenian had 38 points and 11 rebounds and Nikola Jokić had a weak evening for the Nuggets by his standards with just eight points.
