Clara Turel Makes History as First French Woman to Win Angers P2i Open

Clara Turel, 22, won the Angers P2i Open this Sunday, December 10 at the Arena Loire in Trélazé. The first French woman to win this tournament, the adopted Angevine took over Chloé Paquet in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-2).

The 2023 edition of the Angers Women’s Tennis Open was won by Clara Turel this Sunday, December 10. The young player defeated Versaillaise Chloé Paquet by two sets to one (3-6, 6-4, 6-2). She is the first French woman to win the tournament.

The adopted Angevine – she was born in 2001 in Rennes but grew up in Angers – was 60th player in the world in the WTP ranking and should fall to 51st place after her victory.

Already on her way to being part of the French selection for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Clara Turel confirms with this tournament that she would have her place there. The final formation of the French Olympic Team will be announced after Roland-Garros 2024.
