This morning, in the square in front of the municipal headquarters, to the tune of the Mameli Hymn and the Hymn to Joy, the symbolic ceremony of raising the flag of Peace to promote a moment of reflection on the theme.
“A day to choose peace – comments the Mayor Emanuela Colella – and to ask ourselves what it means to build peace, in a world whose balance has received a sharp shock due to the atrocious wars raging and the episodes of violence, including gender violence, which we witness more and more often. War is man’s worst defeat and today we want to reiterate that the City of Ciampino is for Peace!”.
The establishment of a Day of Peace and Hospitality implements the content of motion no. 55905 approved in the City Council on 28 September 2022 which requested the establishment of a City Day dedicated to integration and multiculturalism. On November 15, 2023, the urgent agenda “NO to war, build peace in Palestine” was also approved in the City Council.
For today’s ceremony we would like to thank the President of the City Council Mauro Testa, the citizen delegate for Peace Michele Concilio, the local Police and the Civil Protection, the City Council and Council of Ciampino, the representatives of the Municipalities of Marino and Frascati, the associations of the territory, all the towns and all the citizens who took part in the initiative.
