Atletico Madrid cynical, a goal in each half and Lazio beaten
Atletico Madrid needed a draw to finish in first place in Group E of the Champions League. Diego Simeone’s team instead played to win. Against Lazio he achieved his objective by directing both halves with a goal scored almost immediately, in the 6th minute, before putting the game to sleep and controlling the reaction. And Lazio tried to organize a reaction, especially after conceding the first goal. But Maurizio Sarri’s team seemed inevitably weighed down by the thought of a passage to the round of 16 already in their pocket and by the looming of the difficult home championship match against Inter. The Tuscan coach surprises by starting not Castellanos but Immobile, while Pedro is preferred to Felipe Anderson and Zaccagni completes the attacking trident.
