EL NUEVO DIARIO, DUARTE.- The outstanding Judokas athletes Medickson Del Orbe and Ana Smerly Rosa were awarded as the most outstanding athletes of the year 2023 by the Association of Sports Writers of the Duarte province in an event held in the William García room of the local council .
Del Orbe and Rosa received the Dominican Seaboard and Franco-Macorisan mayoral cups from Fernando Geraldino and his wife for their outstanding performance in the Central American games in San Salvador and the Pan American games in Chile.
Likewise, Gregorio Luperón from the populous Vista al Valle sector was awarded as club of the year. The Campo unity leagues from the La Bajada community and Ocalis Hiciano from the municipality of Castillo received distinctions as the leagues of the year.
While the provincial Judo Association as the hardest working in 2023 and Juan Manuel Severino and Johanny Compres were the best coaches.
Sabina Hidalgo and Danilo Monegro were distinguished as the best leaders, and the versatile Juandy Polanco García was awarded as the best referee.
Before the awards were presented, engineer Tabare Peña Reyes, president of the provincial Association of Sports Writers, former mayor Alex Díaz Paulino, professor Luis Gabriel Ventura and the immortal of Nordestano sports Virgilio Vásquez, who blessed the awards, spoke.
As sports promoters of the year, major league baseball player Hanser Alberto and the current mayor of this municipality Siquio Ng de la Rosa received recognition.
The activity featured prominent artists Noybel García and Gabriel Castillo, as well as an attractive presentation of spicy laughter.
The award ceremony was hosted by the prestigious announcer José Manuel Then and was broadcast on the endirecto56 platform.
