At the final of the national Super Cup in Argentina between Rosario Central and River Plate, a Bundesliga star mingled with the fans! He stood in the away block, his fan cap pulled low over his face. But the TV images reveal him: it is Exequiel Palacios (25) from Bayer Leverkusen!
After the splendid end of the year with Bayer (4-0 against Bochum), Palacios traveled to his home country of Argentina to support his former club River Plate. With success: The guests won 2-0 and won the national Supercup for the second time. Palacios even wore a club jersey with his name on it, but the shirt number was not clearly visible on TV.

Background: Palacios is an ardent River Plate fan. He himself comes from the youth ranks of the top Argentinian club, made his debut in the professional team in 2015 and won three titles with the club.
Palacios always attends games when he is home. His move to Leverkusen in 2020 didn’t change that, where he is a regular in the midfield under coach Xabi Alonso (42) (in the starting line-up in 14 Bundesliga games).
Interesting: Palacios also celebrated the arrival of the Argentine world champions after the title in Qatar 2022 on site. He mingled with fans at the team bus reception in Buenos Aires.
