Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller spoke to the media Thursday for the first time since turning himself in to police on an arrest warrant for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman in November.
ESPN reported Nov. 30 that the Glenn Heights Police Department, a suburb of Dallas, confirmed that Miller, a native of the area, had turned himself in to police late that afternoon to face a charge third-degree assault of a pregnant woman.
The report states Miller was booked into the DeSoto Tri-City Jail on $5,000 bond and was released shortly after.
“It’s been a crazy month,” Mr. Miller said at the opening of his press briefing on Thursday.
“Obviously there are things I can’t talk about, but everything that has come out is completely false and blown out of proportion. Me and my girlfriend have issues like any other couple but the things that have been alleged are false. »
“I hope that with time all these things will be clarified and there will be no more problems. This is life, and you have to keep moving forward. »
After addressing the alleged assault that was reported, the veteran opened up about his knee as he continues to recover from an ACL injury.
“Obviously I’m not where I want to be,” he said.
“Of course I want to contribute to my team, but the cards I’ve been dealt right now, I can’t use them. I still have confidence in my abilities and I still have confidence in my ability to play on this team. »
After answering a question from a reporter, Miller spoke out about his allegations
“Never in any relationship I’ve had, never in my current relationship with my girlfriend have any of these things happened. So every time we see this kind of thing in articles and such, it’s shocking. »
Last month was not the first time Mr. Miller had been the subject of a police investigation. In 2021, while playing for the Broncos, it was announced that Miller would not face criminal charges following a police investigation in a Denver suburb.
