Brilliant Performance by Balearic Judo Athletes at Absolute Spanish Championship

The Balearic representation in the Absolute Spanish Judo Championship, held this weekend in Pamplona, ​​had a brilliant performance in the senior category, stepping on the podium twice. Results in the form of medals that reflect the work carried out by the Balearic Federation of Judo and Associated Sports, in addition to the work of the islands’ clubs and coaches.

For Mallorca it was a special competition, as an island judoka could be seen on the podium of an absolute national team, something unusual. It is the case of María Oliver Ferrà, the international athlete from Sineu (silver in the 2019 Junior European Championships, in Málaga), who won a well-deserved bronze medal that fuels their hopes for the future.

Oliver was third in less than 63 kilos, a category in which the rivals from the Valencian Community were the ones who set the tone. Ariela Sánchez (gold), María Isabel Puche (silver) and Aitana Fernández and María Oliver Ferrà (bronze) shaped the cajon in Pamplona.

In addition, the Balearic delegation achieved another bronze medal in these absolute Spanish Judo Championships, it was the bronze of Oriol Salvador, in this case in the less than 100 kilos category. Miquel Àngel Bisquerra, president of the Balearic Federation of Judo and DDAA, supported his athletes in the competition.
