Proving week for Tango. After having validated first place in the Eurocup thanks to their victory in Grengewald (Luxembourg), Bourges Basket, which did not return to Cher, signed a convincing victory on the Flammes Carolo floor (56-78) this Sunday . The twelfth in a row in all competitions.

If Charleville-Mézières, with Jasmine Walker at the helm (11 points in the first quarter), resisted at the start of the match, it was mainly due to an insolent exterior skill (4 out of 5 at three points in the ten first few minutes). Bourges, with great precision (3 balls lost over this same period), was however in the lead (16-23 at the end of the first quarter). Aggressive in defense and dominant in the paint (16 points scored at the break, compared to 4 for the Flammes Carolo), Artemis Spanou, captain in the absence of Sarah Michel-Boury (spared, still feeling pain in her thigh after the crutch received in La Roche-sur-Yon), and his partners controlled the tempo of the game (33-40 at the break).

Eurocup: Bourges Basket will meet a Turkish team in the round of 32

The fatal boost for the locals would take place in the third quarter (8-25). First with a 9-0 in less than three minutes under the leadership of Pauline Astier. Then with an 11-0. Romuald Yernaux, the Ardennes coach, had taken two timeouts, but his team was clearly behind and powerless (35-60, 27th). If Bourges delivered a less qualitative fourth quarter, causing a slight annoyance from Olivier Lafargue after an 8-0 for the Ardennes, the victory was never in question (56-78) and the TBB equaled its greatest away success in the league (22 points difference, as in Landerneau at the end of September), inflicting the Flammes Carolo with their first home loss of the season in LFB.

At the state

Bourges perfectly locked down the Carolomacerian racket this Sunday. Despite their size, Bulgak and Scherf had great difficulty in being effective offensively under the circle. As proof, the number of points registered in the paint: only 12 for Charleville-Mézières, compared to 36 for Bourges. That’s a differential of 24 points. Almost the gap on the scoreboard.

The player

Pauline Astier was in all the good times this Sunday. On offense, first, with 13 points and an excellent percentage (6 out of 8 shooting, 75%). In the animation, it wasn’t bad either for the young TBB leader, with seven assists for a small lost ball. And in defense? Four interceptions, best total of the match. With 27 ratings (half the total of the Flammes Carolo team, 55), the Tango shone brightly.
