Badminton player from Central Java, Bobby Setiabudi collected two championship titles at the BNI National Championship (Kejurnas) Badminton PBSI Individual Cadets and Adults 2023.
The player who was born on March 22 2001 was recorded as the champion in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles sectors in the adult group.
In the adult men’s doubles sector, the badminton player who initially played in the men’s singles specialist teamed up with Akbar Bintang Cahyono to become champion. They defeated West Java representatives, Hardianto/Reinard Dhanriano with a score of 21-19, 28-26 in the final which took place at the Jakarta State University GOR, Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Saturday (23/12).
Facing this match, Bobby himself admitted that he was still adapting to the rotation system in playing men’s doubles. Bobby then made a quick adaptation so that the 2021 Bahrain International men’s singles champion was able to adjust to his partner on the field.
“I still need a little adaptation to the doubles playing system. So far I’m enjoying it and in the future I still don’t know who I will be paired with,” said Bobby.
In the mixed doubles sector, Bobby, who was paired with Melati Daeva Oktavianti, became champion after defeating another representative from Central Java, Akbar Bintang Cahyono/Marsheilla Gischa Islami with a score of 21-13, 22-20.
Becoming champion in two numbers makes Bobby not want to be satisfied quickly considering that in the future the player from Situbondo, East Java still has a long career. The bronze medal winner in the team event at the 2021 SEA Games is determined to prepare himself for the next tournament.
“I’m waiting for the next direction. I will definitely practice to perfect the pattern and system for playing doubles,” concluded Bobby.
As adult men’s doubles champion with Akbar, Bobby received a cash prize of IDR 43.2 million. Bobby achieved the same score in adult mixed doubles with Melati.
