Biathlon, Johannes Boe triumphs in the pursuit of Hochfilzen. Giacomel 12th

Norwegian poker in the pursuit of Hochfilzen valid for the second stage of the 2023/2024 biathlon World Cup. On the Austrian snow vince infatti Johannes Thingnes Boe (at his first seasonal victory) in front of connazionali Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, Tarjei Boe and Sturla Holm Laegreid. The best of the Italians is Tommaso Giacomel, 12°.

Great achievement today for Johannes Boe. The class of 1993, started 11th with a delay of 47″ from his older brother (first to start after the victory in yesterday’s sprint), he played an almost perfect match, missing only one target (in the first polygon) and showing excellent condition on skis.

The decisive moment was in the third shooting series, where J. Boe he found zero and, thanks to the mistakes of all those who were in front with him, he went ahead alone (Laegreid first pursuer at 7″9). Then the Norwegian kept a very high pace on skis and crowned his race with zero in the last series, which allowed him to experience a quiet last lap, finishing the test in 33:05.1. Thanks to this success, J. Boe earned his 91st career World Cup victory and rose to the top of this season’s overall standings.

Dale-Skjevdal then arrived with a delay of 22″6 (2+0+1+0), good at recovering two positions in the last lap thanks to an excellent pace on skis. Tarjei Boe was third with a gap of 28”4 (1+0+1+0) and fourth was Sturla Holm Laegreid – who collapsed on the last lap – 39”2 from the top (0+1+1+0). Closing the top five we find the Swede Sebastian Samuelsson with a delay of 48″5 (1+0+2+0).

In Italy no athlete managed to finish in the top ten. The best was indeed Thomas Giacomel, who finished in 12th place, 1’47” behind Johannes Boe. The five errors on the shooting range (1+1+2+1), which did not they allowed us to fight for a better position. The other Italians further back: Lukas Hofer 25° a 3’14” (3+0+1+2), Didier Bionaz 30° a 3’51” (1+2+1+2), 38th Elia Zeni at 4’22” (1+0+1+0) e 42° Patrick Braunhofer a 4’44” (1+0+1+1).
