Ben Simmons’ Return to the Court Delayed Until 2024 due to Back Injury

Ben Simmons’ return to the court will have to wait until 2024. The Brooklyn Nets have reported that the Australian point guard is showing improvements in the back injury that has kept him sidelined since early November, but they have assured that he will be out for at least for two more weeks, after which it will be evaluated again.

Simmons was only able to play six games this season before his back problems returned, once again generating enormous skepticism around him after a positive start to the season. After a month and a half away and the problems seemed to get worse at the beginning of December, the player continues doing individual work apart from his teammates. And although everything indicates that it is beginning to progress, we have already heard that too many times not to quarantine this information.

Ben has averaged 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists in the duels he has been able to play, numbers that are not very striking but that were worth it to be important. His ability to set the pace of the game and create situations for his teammates was a valuable weapon for the New Yorkers, who will hope to be able to count on him on a more regular basis once we enter the new year.

The franchise has assured that these problems have nothing to do with those that have already left the point guard out of the game for many months in recent years, but, when it comes to the back on all occasions, it is inevitable to consider to what extent the back is to allow the Australian to continue his career as normal. Last year he played 42 games although he never looked very good, and although this time he looked better on the court, this long period of absence represents another hard blow for him and the team.
