Will Still, the 31-year-old Belgian coach of Stade Reims, has worked his way into the spotlight. Despite recent reports in British tabloids about an alleged offer to Sunderland, Still remains focused on his work at Reims.

“I would never offer myself to another club. I have too much respect for the people I work with,” he explains to Het Nieuwsblad.

Although Sunderland ultimately opted for Michael Beale, Still confirms there were discussions. “Isn’t that normal in the football world? I listened to every club that showed interest.” His contract at Reims contains a clause that allows other clubs to buy him away, which Sunderland may have been trying to take advantage of.

England is already his next destination. “My next club will most likely be in England, yes. That’s what I have in mind.” Vincent Kompany will therefore soon have Belgian company in the English coaching world.

Despite the speculation, Still is performing excellently with Stade Reims, which is currently competing for a European ticket. “The first six in Ligue 1 receive a European ticket. Before the start of the season, the left column was our goal,” says Still.
