Basketball Euroleague: Alba Berlin loses significantly at home against Olympiacos Piraeus

The basketball players from Alba Berlin suffered a defeat against the Greek champions Olympiakos Piraeus at the end of the first half of the season in the Euroleague.

Alba Berlin ended the first half of the Euroleague with a home defeat. In front of more than 11,200 spectators in the Arena at Ostbahnhof, Alba lost 67:94 to Olympiacos Piraeus on Friday evening.

In 17 games in the premier class, Alba only won three wins and remains second to last in the table. The best Berlin throwers were Matt Thomas with 15 and Matteo Spagnolo with eleven points.

The Berliners initially got into the game well and showed better performance in the first few minutes. Alba led by eleven points in the second quarter, but the lead dwindled to 43-40 by halftime. After the break, Olympiacos became much more dominant, Alba had more and more problems and the Greek champions turned the game around with a 16-2 run.

Before the game, former Alba captain Luke Sikma, who has been wearing the Olympiakos jersey since the summer after six very successful years in Berlin, was officially farewelled.
