Barbora Krejčíková Teams Up with Laura Siegemundová for Australian Open Doubles

Tennis player Barbora Krejčíková, after ending her collaboration with Kateřina Siniaková, will appear at the Australian Open in January in doubles alongside German Laura Siegemundová.

At the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the new pair will play the role of the fourth seeded team in Melbourne.

The organizers confirmed the composition of the couples in the published applications.

Twenty-eight-year-old Krejčíková will play with Siegemundová, who is seven years older, for the first time.

She agreed to work with the world’s fifth-ranked doubles player after she could not continue with her current teammate Siniaková.

The Olympic champions from Tokyo announced their suspension in November after losing to Canada in the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup.

The end was initiated by Siniaková, who was looking for a new impetus and established cooperation with the Australian Storm Hunterová. But she did not rule out that she and Krejčíková will get together again in the future.

Siegemundová last competed alongside the Russian Vera Zvonareva, with whom she won the US Open Grand Slam three years ago and also reached the final there this year.

At the end of the season, the German-Russian couple triumphed at the Champions Tournament in Cancun. Zvonareva reportedly ended her career after the season.

Krejčíková and Siniaková are the most successful domestic couple with seven Grand Slam titles.

In the historical tables of the so-called Open era, they are tied for fifth place.
