Asvel muzzled at home by Valence

Still no home victory for Tony Parker’s Asvel in the Euroleague. The series of defeats at home for the Lyonnais, which has lasted since January 26, 2023, was extended on Friday evening in the brand new LDLC Arena in Décines. And the approximately six thousand supporters who had gathered there discovered new, and always worrying, faces on the part of their players.

After an excellent start to the evening (23-18, 10th), the protégés of Italian Gianmarco Pozzecco then had immense difficulty finding attacking play. So much so that they only scored 18 points over the next twenty minutes of play. A shortage which at half-time was still an illusion thanks to the clumsiness of Valencia (4 out of 16 from three points).

Asvel remains on twelve consecutive defeats at home in the Euroleague.

Completely muzzled over the last five minutes of the third quarter, and defeated by a 14-0 conceded in five minutes (41-53, 30th), Joffrey Lauvergne (13 points) and others tried to react initially (55- 64, 35th), before collapsing a second time, struck down by the banderillas planted at three points by a veteran of the house, Chris Jones (14 points). Stuck at the bottom of the ranking (2v-11d), tied with Alba Berlin, Asvel will host Panathinaikos next week, once again at Décines.
