As of today, seven (!) races in nine days and Wout and Mathieu are there (almost) everywhere: don’t miss anything with this handy overview

Exact Cross – Mol: Friday December 20

Who’s driving?

In Mol we are looking forward to the first ‘Battle of the Titans’: Wout Van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel will compete against each other for the first time this cyclo-cross season. The Zilvermeercross provides a spectacle every year. Last year, Wout Van Aert was able to shake off Van Der Poel and reach the finish solo. Will we see a similar scenario on Friday, or will the two gladiators battle it out to the finish? The two favorites should not look at the rest of the field: names such as Pidcock, Iserbyt and Nieuwenhuis are not present.

For the women it seems to be a battle between Lucinda Brand and Sanne Cant. However, Shirin Van Anrooij is also participating and was able to win the cross in Mol last year.

Which ranking?

This is an Exact Cross without a fixed classification. The previous two Exact crosses were won by Thibau Nys and Fem Van Empel (Beringen) and Van Aert and Norbert-Riberolle (Essen).

World Cup Cross – Antwerp: Saturday December 21

Who’s driving?

A day after the race in Mol, everyone will really be on the edge of their seats: Van Aert, Van der Poel and Tom Pidcock will be behind the starting line for the first time. A first real test of strength between the three powerhouses, who should also take a look around, because classification riders Van Der Haar, Iserbyt, Nieuwenhuis, Vanthourenhout and Sweeck are also at the start in Antwerp. Back from a break and to keep an eye on: Thibau Nys

There is also a rich list of participants for the women: Van Empel, Alvarado, Brand, Pieterse and Worst are present and we have forgotten a few names. So two sensations in Antwerp.

Which ranking?

Eli Iserbyt is at the top of the World Cup rankings, followed by Pim Ronhaar, who will also participate in Antwerp. Among the women, Ceylin Alvarado is in first place, with Brand in second place.

World Cup Cross – Gavere: Tuesday, December 26

Who’s driving?

We had three days of rest, so all riders who rode in Antwerp will be at the start again in Gavere. Will the trio Pidcock – Van Aert – van der Poel play the leading role again or will we get a surprise in East Flanders?

Which ranking?

World Cup.

Telenet Superprestige – Heusden-Zolder: Wednesday December 27

Who’s driving?

Once again a list of participants with all the big names present. The Heusden-Zolder circuit can therefore prepare itself for a nice finish photo. All the top performers are also present among the women.

Which ranking?

This is a Superprestige competition. Just like in the World Cup, Iserbyt is also in first place here, with a nice lead over Niels Vandeputte and Joris Nieuwenhuis. For the women, Annemarie Worst leads, with Alvarado and Aniek van Alphen in her wake.

Where to see?

From 1:30 PM on Play Sports, Proximus and Eurosport

Telenet-Superprestige – Diegem: Thursday, December 28

Who’s driving?

Once again many top riders will be present in the evening cross in Diegem, but last year’s winner will not be there this time: Wout Van Aert will suit up that evening. Last year he won after a sensational duel with Tom Pidcock. Can the Brit win this time? He will have to deal with Van der Poel for that.

The women are also expected to see a spectacle: Cant, Marianne Vos and Lucinda Brand are present.

We are presented with a unique event between the women and men: Average Rob was able to convince the organization to organize a competition without professionals. “Two rounds of ‘full house’. No pros. Who participates?” Bas Tietema is also present.

Which ranking?

Counts towards the Telenet Superprestige.

Exact Cross – Loenhout: Friday December 29

Who’s driving?

No Van Aert and Pidcock to be seen in Loenhout, so a great opportunity for Van der Poel among the Elite Men. For the Dutchman it is a final preparation for the cross in his own country, a day later in Hulst.

Which ranking?

This is an Exact Cross, so without classification.

World Cup Cross – Hulst: Saturday December 30

Who’s driving?

The Big Three will play one more time in 2023. In the Netherlands, Van der Poel wants to triumph in front of his own people, but the opposition with Van Aert and Pidcock is again somewhat tougher compared to the day before in Loenhout.

For the women, all top riders are also expected for the classification cross.

What ranking.

The Worldcup.
