Argentina Finish Top, Indonesia 146th

Jakarta

Argentina closed 2023 at the top of the FIFA rankings. Meanwhile Indonesia is in 146th place.

Summarized from the official FIFA website, Argentina is in first place with 1855.2 points. Antara said the Albiceleste had been at the top since last April.

Positive performance throughout 2023 plays a big role here. Lionel Messi et al won nine out of 10 matches this year, including against Indonesia last June, and only lost once when they lost to Uruguay last November.

France is in second place with 1845.44 points. The 2022 World Cup runners-up also achieved a series of impressive results in 2023 by going undefeated during Euro 2024 Qualification. They only lost once to Germany, that too in a friendly match.

England next ranks third with 1800.05 points. The Three Lions are unbeaten during 2023 with eight wins and two draws. Looking at the existing squad, they are now one of the most feared countries in Europe.

Indonesia itself underwent a period of ups and downs during 2023, but overall its ranking increased. Having been in 149th place in April, now Garuda ends the year by climbing three positions with a score of 1064.01 points.

If you look at the overall performance of Southeast Asian teams, Indonesia is in fifth place. Only Vietnam (ranked 94), Thailand (113), Malaysia (130) and the Philippines (140) are above Shin Tae-yong’s team. Following are the FIFA rankings as of December 26, 2023:
