Angelique Kerber is about to make a comeback after her 18-month maternity break.
The former world number one and three-time Grand Slam winner wants to get back on the WTA tour next season.
It starts at the end of December at the United Cup in Sydney. According to her own statement, she cannot yet estimate whether the 35-year-old will be able to compete again.
“I’ve done everything, I feel good, we’re right on schedule. But it’s too early to make a prediction,” said Kerber in an interview with Sport Bild: “In plain language: I have a real cold start in Australia and the most difficult one I’ve had so far. But that’s exactly what motivates me.”
Her great motivation is also reflected in plans for the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer. For example, she could imagine meeting Olympic champion Alexander Zverev: “Very much! When we meet in Australia, we will definitely talk about it. I would be happy about that!”
