Andrasch Starke began his career as a jockey when he was just 15 years old. He will soon be 50 – and is as successful as ever. He also owes that to his father.
Markus Klug has no doubts: “He is the best jockey Germany has ever had and one of the best jockeys in Europe,” said the gallop trainer about Andrasch Starke shortly before their permanent collaboration began. That was about two years ago. At the beginning of January, jockey Starke will be 50 years old.
An age at which the question of ending your career in the saddle comes up more often. A possible farewell doesn’t really concern him yet. “I’m still putting it off, it won’t be another five or ten years, but as long as I’m so successful, it won’t be an issue.”
