The head of the federal Executive was criticized for the inauguration of incomplete works, such as the Olmeca refinery in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, which began producing fuel 14 months after its opening ceremony; or the Mayan Train, which started operations last weekend in only one section, from Cancun to Campeche.

For the president of the CMIC, Francisco Solares, it is the same case in the Transisthmian for which only the train track that will connect the ports of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and Salina Cruz, Oaxaca will be inaugurated.

“The Isthmus Corridor is a project where the first part is the modernization of the track that was made for the mobilization of the train from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, however, from our point of view the most important part of this project are the 10 Industrial parks that were planned are now called Development Poles, and that is what gives them their importance,” he said in an interview with El Sol de México.

The CIIT is one of the priority projects of the current administration, for which the federal government estimated an investment of more than 20 billion pesos for the rehabilitation of the railroad tracks and the expansion of the ports of Coatzacoalcos and Salina Cruz.

In addition to this, the Ministry of Economy estimated that the construction of the first five development poles will attract private investment of around seven billion dollars.

At the end of November, the CIIT announced that these first poles were awarded to the companies Mota Engil, Grupo Constructor Ursedic and the consortium formed by Profharmax and Transportadora Comexsa. The president of the CMIC estimated that the construction of these poles will take more than a year, in addition to the fact that elements of the project such as a gas pipeline and electrical transmission lines remain to be completed.

“It is a project where the main economic viability is precisely that those 10 industrial parks are installed, in addition, as far as we know the issue of gas has not been resolved, the issue of clean energy is not one hundred percent, as there are now many companies that require them within their operation (…) then, all this must be resolved, we trust that the next government of the Republic will continue with these very important projects for the country,” he said.

This medium consulted the CIIT about the progress of the project in general and responded that these data will be released this Friday prior to the event that will be led by President López Obrador.

Greater private investment

After the inaugurations of priority projects such as the Tulum International Airport, the Mayan Train and the Transisthmian highway, the CMIC expects that public investment in infrastructure will be reduced by about 200 billion pesos by 2024.

However, Solares anticipated that private investment will increase due to the relocation of plants in the country, a phenomenon known as nearshoring, although he anticipated that these announcements could occur towards the second half of the year, once the electoral period and the elections have passed. companies have greater certainty about what will happen with the next government.

“Next year, public investment will surely decrease, which was one of the most important drivers of this year’s growth, but we are confident that private investment will increase, especially due to the issue of relocating factories that supply the United States. ”.

He highlighted that this year the construction sector will grow close to 20 percent. However, he said that with this growth the production value of the industry would be similar to that of 2019, a year in which the industry was declining.

“We come from a low comparison base because with the pandemic all sectors fell. If we see it in a context of five, six or seven years, we are barely reaching what we were producing before, that is, there has not been such significant growth. A horizon a little longer than two years is still not enough to be able to To say that it is a clear growth trend, and what we expect for 2024 is not to decrease,” he indicated.
