Alpine skiing, Beaver Creek nightmare: super-G is also at great risk

The bad weather gives no respite and continues to heavily influence this first phase of Men’s Alpine Skiing World Cup 2023-2024. In particular, it is the speed sector that is paying the price, with one ever-longer list of cancellations and races to make up coming soon in an already quite busy calendar.

After the cancellation of the inaugural giant slalom in Sölden and four free descents between Zermatt-Cervinia and Beaver Creek, today’s Super-G on the legendary Birds of Prey also seems at great risk. At the moment the weather conditions are extreme in Colorado, with the strong wind having already led the organizers to the decision to suspend the athletes’ reconnaissance in view of the competition scheduled on the card at 10.45 local time (18.45 Italian).

The teams have been asked to stay in the hotel until further notice, based on the evolution of the weather. The Beaver Creek weekend, after the cancellation of the two runs on Friday (due to fog and heavy snowfall) and Saturday (due to strong winds and too much snow falling on the track), therefore risks a sensational 0/3 which would further complicate the Men’s Jet calendar of the White Circus.
