Almería sport continues to reap triumphs at the regional level, in this case, in judo, where Ricardo Ortiz, in the 73 kilo category, and Lucas Soler, in the 63 kilo categoryrose, respectively, with the gold medal in the cadet category of the International Columbian Trophyheld in the Huelva town of Palos de la Frontera (Huelva).
Ortiz and Soler have been part of the Almeria representation in this trophy, played at the end of November, which brought together more than two hundred athletes. The Almería judo team was represented by a total of ten athletes in this eventfirst scoring event of the Spanish Championship.
In addition to the medals won in the 73 and 63 kilo categories, it is also worth highlighting the role played by Germán Márquez, finalist and runner-up in the 81 kilo weight class. The Almeria judoka expedition that traveled to Huelva also achieved this event five third places: Iván Huete, Iván Merlos, Mario Lara, Francisco Martínez, and Iván Bosquet, in the categories of 55, 60, 66, and 73 kilos respectively. The competition was organized by the Andalusian Judo Federation.
