Alan-Basson Zondagh after LOU’s victory over the Bulls: “The team believes in itself, it is united”

Alan-Basson Zondagh (LOU coach after the victory against the Bulls 29-28): “As we expected, it was a very physical match, the Bulls fought on every ruck, every ball carried but they missed a few hits, it allowed us to have ammunition at certain times. In the first half especially, our imprecision in certain areas put us in difficulty, camp outings are always a problem yet we spend a lot of time working on them. We will continue.

Despite everything, there is a state of mind in this group which allowed us to get back into the match in the second half by putting on more speed, trying more to open up spaces. We can see that if we erase certain inaccuracies, some clumsiness, we are dangerous in attack. Even if we are not in a good position in the Top 14, the team believes in itself, it is united, this was seen in the last sequence and several times during the match in defense. It’s this defense that fueled our offense. »

Thibaut Regard (back of LOU): “During the last action, which lasted almost four minutes, we took no points, no penalties, even if it was a little contentious since the Bulls demanded a forward from Félix (Lambey) but fortunately, he sent the ball towards our camp. We didn’t give up, but we said to ourselves that perhaps we could have taken shelter beforehand. We managed some encouraging defensive sequences but what left the Bulls in the match were our outings which meant that we started the match 10-0 against us (in the 10th minute). After our defeat in stoppage time at Bristol (36-34), it would have been psychologically complicated to lose in the last action. We fought a lot for this to happen and I hope this will make us realize that we can win this kind of match. »
