The Executive Board of the Indonesian Mixed Fighting Association (PB Pertacami) won gold at the world championship. This federation then hopes to become a member of the Indonesian Olympic Committee.

Pertacami athletes are already in Indonesia after appearing at the 2023 Mixed Martial Arts World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. A surprise was created by winning a gold medal through Viona and a silver medal presented by Toni Kristian Hutapea.

The General Chair of Pertacami, Tommy Paulus Hermawan, is very proud of the achievements of his athletes. He said that initially he was not targeting a gold medal.

“At first, we weren’t targeting gold, but only hoped for a medal at the 2023 Mixed Martial Arts World Championship. Unexpectedly, Viona was able to make a surprise by winning a gold medal and at the same time flying the Red and White at the event held by the International Federation Global Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) “This achievement is not easy to achieve, especially since the participants come from 35 countries and PB Pertacami was only founded in 2023,” said Tommy Paulus Hermawan,” in a press statement.

“Yes, the competition at the 2023 Mixed Martial Arts World Championships in Bangkok is indeed very tight. Two big mixed sports powerhouses, namely China, which had 12 finalists, only won 7 gold and Kazakhstan, with 11 finalists, won 8 gold and became the overall champion. Indonesia, which sent 6 “Athletes managed to qualify 2 athletes in the final,” said the Secretary General of PB Pertacami, Peter Taslim.

Even though it has only just been established, a series of achievements have been achieved by Indonesian mixed sports. Previously, Indonesia won 1 silver and 3 bronze at the 2023 Asian MMA Championship in Bangkok and won 1 bronze at the 2023 World Junior MMA Championship in Greece.

Regarding the mixed sports that will be competed in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, Tommy Paulus Hermawan hopes that the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) will immediately process PB Pertacami’s membership.

“We really hope that PB Pertacami can be accepted as a KOI member so that it can strengthen the Indonesian contingent at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. The potential for mixed sports athletes is quite large and we have proven it,” said Tommy Paulus Hermawan.

“PB Pertacami will soon set up a special training camp for mixed martial arts sports. They must be handled specifically and professionally so they can continue to raise the Red and White in the international arena,” he added.
