A superb Tariku Novales destroys Spain’s marathon record

The Galician athlete achieved the mark in the prestigious Valencia test

The Galician athlete TarikuNovales established a new Spanish record this Sunday in the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Marathon by stopping the clock with a mark of 2:05:48, almost a minute better than Ayam Lamdassem’s mark of 2:06:25, established in 2022.

Novales, born in Ethiopia and adopted at just six years old by a Galician couple, had conveyed in the previous days his intention to be the first Spaniard to go under two hours and six minutes, something he achieved this Sunday in Valencia.

Since his debut in the legendary distance, coming from the bottom, he has shown an ability to adapt to 42 kilometers. At 25 years old, she is in the best moment of his sports career, with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the horizon.

Novales, already in the international elite, has the necessary resources to compete with the best. Adidas provided her with the latest model of its shoes, like the Ethiopian Tigst Assefa, who broke the women’s world distance record in September.
