A favorable December for Amorebieta

The newly released month of December could be a good month for Amorebieta who, yes, faces his particular roller coaster in the next seven days. Three matches with little rest between them await Haritz Mujika’s men, who in addition to their league commitments are making their debut in the Copa del Rey. A sprint that they face full of confidence and enthusiasm after the change of direction that the team has taken in recent days.

Beyond that, this month of December can be especially favorable for the Zornotzarras in the domestic competition since they will act as hosts in three of the four games remaining until the end of the year, and also the first round. A great opportunity to rebuild the Lezama fort and relaunch the blues in the fight for permanence.

Fortaleza

Twelve of the fourteen points they have accumulated in their locker have been added to the shelter of their fans on field 2 in Lezama, where a couple of weeks ago Amorebieta was reunited with victory. The idea and intention of those from Urritxe is to prolong that good moment at home against rivals who, today, are relatively close in the table. All the more reason for the locker room to be fully plugged in.

The first of those home games for Amorebieta will be this Sunday, at nine at night, against Burgos. Those from Bolo, with 22 points, have only added one away from El Plantío so far this year, which makes them the worst visitor in LaLiga Hypermotion, behind even the Biscayans. Of course, they come at a good time since they have been scoring for three weeks, one of them at home.

Subsequently, Haritz Mujika’s men must face a demanding consecutive double displacement. First to Levantine lands to play the Cup tie (Wednesday 6, 7:00 p.m.) and later to Valladolid. There they will play their only away league match of the month (Saturday 9, 4:15 p.m.). The Pucelanos are the toughest rival they will have to face, since they are immersed in the fight for direct promotion.

Two consecutive days

Once this difficult ‘procedure’ has been overcome, Amorebieta will have time to regain strength and carefully prepare for their next match in Lezama. It will be the one that takes him to receive him at the red and white facilities on the penultimate day of this first return to Zaragoza (Sunday 17, 6:30 p.m.). The top team (22 points) is going through a streak of eight games without winning, which has recently cost Fran Escribá his job.

Haritz Mujika’s men will put an end to 2023 and close the first round with what is presumed to be a more than direct duel in the fight for permanence. Back in Lezama, Amorebieta hosts Alcorcón. Although on this occasion, what probably does not matter is neither the day nor the time of the match, since this clash against the potters will be played on Thursday, December 21, the feast of Saint Thomas, at 9:30 p.m.

The blues’ mind is set on getting as many points as possible in all those matches. Closing the year with a good taste in the mouth would be the best news for a squad that has been through very delicate moments in recent weeks. Even more so considering that LaLiga Hypermotion does not return until January 14. A ‘vacation’ that would be shortened by a week if Amorebieta manages to leave Levante behind and advance to the next round of the Cup.
