About 65 years after the publication of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee, the Christmas classic is finally at the top of the American Billboard Hot 100. The song remains there All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey for.

Carey’s hit has consistently topped the Billboard Hot 100 in recent years. All I Want For Christmas Is You ended up at number one in the American charts 25 years after its release. Lee’s song remained in second place several times.

The now 78-year-old Lee writes with Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree several records in her name. It has never taken so long (just over 63 years) for a song to reach the top of the list after its arrival. The singer has also broken the record for the longest period between two number 1 hits.

“You can’t stop a good song,” says Lee Variety about her current success. “I don’t like listening to my other repertoire, but I do like this song – and I can’t explain why.”

Lee sang the song when she was only thirteen years old. The song was listed every year between 1960 and 1962 and then again in 2014. Since then, Lee has been listed every year. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 the song came second every time and now it has finally hit the mark.

Also in the Netherlands it seems Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree becoming increasingly popular. Last year the song reached the top five in the Single Top 100 for the first time.
