2nd Austral Martial Arts Tournament brings seven disciplines to the Municipal Gymnasium No. 1

This Saturday, on the main court of the Municipal Gymnasium No. 1, the 2nd Austral Martial Arts Tournament will be held, where seven sports disciplines will be linked.

The event will be organized by the Civil, Sports, Social and Cultural Association Argentine Union of Martial Arts headquarters Comodoro Rivadavia (UAAM) chaired by Professor Pablo Cosentino (XII Dan of Judo), with the strategic support of the Comodoro Deportes Autárquico Entidad and also other accompanying entities such as Club Nehuen, Patagonian Union of Traditional Martial Arts, Argentine Kurash Federation, Patagonian Karate Do Union, Team Nova Uniáo CR (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and Pierina Team Kickboxing Academy.

The particular martial arts show will begin this Saturday at 9 with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu combats, a second kickboxing area and judo exhibitions, while there will also be a third tatami for kobudo and karate.

The opening ceremony will be at 11:30 with the presence of municipal authorities and different national and provincial federations.

For this second edition, martial artists from different academies in Bahía Blanca (Buenos Aires province), San Martín de los Andes (Neuquén province), Puerto Madryn, Caleta Olivia, Sarmiento, as well as local athletes will participate.

The sports proposal will last until 9 p.m. with a significant number of participants, around 250 martial artists.

For the city it will be the first time that there will be a Japanese fencing competition (Kendo), scheduled for 5:00 p.m. There will be cups, trophies, medals and even cash sums for the most outstanding martial artists, and the Challenger Cup “Dr. Jigoro Kano” to the institution that obtains the greatest number of gold medals with all its representatives (who may participate in different martial disciplines).

The first edition took place in mid-May in San Martín de los Andes, where the locals of the Karate School of the Mountain Cavalry Regiment No. 3 “Coraceros Gral. Lavalle” won said cup, which they will defend in this opportunity in Comodoro.

You will enjoy the coexistence of seven different disciplines with Japanese origins (in the case of Judo, Karate, Kendo, Kick Boxing and Kobudo), Brazilian-Japanese (through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and Uzbek (with Kurash ).

Cosentino has introduced both Kurash and kendo in the city, with the collaboration of important national figures such as Matías Rosetto, Gilda Garnica, Luis Alberto Hernández, Pierina Segura, Julián “Nano” Iglesias, Víctor Raúl L’Abbate, Laura Giacomini , among other personalities.
