Youngest Boston Celtics Player, Jayson Tatum, Reaches 10,000 NBA Points

Drafting 11/05/2023 NBA

Last morningJayson Tatum became, with 25 years and 246 daysthe youngest player in the history of the Boston Celtics to score 10,000 points in the NBA.

He achieved it during the Celtics’ victory against the Brooklyn Nets (114-124), precisely at the Barclays Center. In this pavilion his name began to be associated with that of a franchise where he is already a historic player. But, when he was drafted in 2017, the young Jayson Tatum did not think the same:

«I was ignorant when I was drafted. I didn’t want to come [a los Celtics] because I thought I wasn’t going to play. They had Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart. He didn’t think he was good enough to play on that team.

It didn’t even cross my mind how to close a game. I was more worried about getting into the game and getting started. Things happen for a reason, and I had my chance. It has been a long process and I have had to learn through the ups and downs, from my mistakes in decisions at the end of games and things like that.«Tatum explained after the meeting.

Tatum led the victory with 32 points – in addition to grabbing 11 rebounds – to become the 10th youngest player to reach 10,000 points and the fastest Boston Celtics player to achieve it.

«I’ve been lucky to be in a great franchise. I have had great teammates and great coaches who have contributed to me reaching 10,000 points. I hope I have many more and many more games to win«.
