Youcef Atal in police custody after pro-Palestine post – Sport

The Algerian national soccer player Youcef Atal, who is under contract with the OGC Nice soccer club, was taken into police custody after a pro-Palestine post on social networks. The public prosecutor’s office in Nice announced this on Friday. The French judicial authorities are investigating the 27-year-old on suspicion, among other things, of having publicly supported terrorism. The club had previously suspended the defensive player “until further notice”. Although Atal retracted the controversial post and apologized publicly, the OGC Nice issued a ban against him as a disciplinary measure. Atal is said to have shared a video of a Palestinian preacher on Instagram. The post has now been deleted.
