Midfielder Brazil U-17 national team Guilherme Batista said he had no choice but to win over New Caledonia in the second match of Group C 2023 U-17 World Cup at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Tuesday (14/11).

Brazil must beat New Caledonia to maintain their chances of qualifying for the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

This is because the Samba Team is currently in third place in Group C after losing dramatically 2-3 to Iran in the first match.

Quoted from BetweenGuilherme Batista admitted that he was not burdened with the mandatory target of winning over Panama.

“There is no burden, we are aware that two wins are a fixed price to be able to progress smoothly to the next round,” said Batista.

“We believe in the coach’s strategy and hopefully we can achieve two wins to advance to the next round,” added Guilherme.

The Sao Paulo academy player said he and his teammates were no longer thinking about the defeat to Iran.

“Psychologically the players have recovered. The match against Iran is over, so now we have to focus on fighting New Caledonia so that we can get full points and in the last match we can determine our fate in the next round,” said Batista.

Meanwhile, Brazil U-17 coach Phelipe Leal emphasized that his players would fight optimally against New Caledonia.

“We have to play stably for 90 minutes to win, the team has trained well so far. The players also don’t feel the burden. We will perform optimally tomorrow,” said Phelipe Leal.
