Why Zverev becomes a Medvedev fan at the ATP Finals

There was a moment in Alexander Zverev’s second group game at the ATP Finals in Turin when the German’s mood brightened again. At the beginning of the second set, Zverev had very unfortunately lost the first set against Daniil Medvedev in the tiebreak, the seventh in the world rankings put his Russian opponent under heavy pressure with a hard and precise forehand. Medvedev’s emergency strike would land out of bounds. You could see that early on.

Zverev still followed the blow and wanted to do a little trick when the point was already taken. So he started the “tweener”, this technically demanding kick through the legs while running backwards. Things went terribly wrong. Zverev did not hit the ball, but rather an area that is more sensitive to pain in men. The 26-year-old had to laugh at his mishap himself, the audience in the Pala Alpitour also smiled and gave encouraging applause.
